Just a quick note this week- the one flower I search for each spring is the wild Blue Flag Iris and it is up in several areas in Northwest Iowa. I just love the colors and lines in this flower and I think it's very photogenic. I I captured this image on the south shore of Virgin Lake but I have also found it in several wet land areas near here and around the Spirit Lake area as well.
The Blue Flag was used by Native Americans to treat earache, sore eyes and to relieve swelling. Sometimes the root is used in perfumes and flavorings and I understand that the royal emblem of France represents the iris- just encase you were interested. That's it for this week- again thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
Simply beautiful. One of my favorite flowers and your selective focus created a strong sense of being there on ones hands and knees discovering this gem as one parted the prairie grasses. Much better than a straight on shot. I feel I am there in the moment.

This is a dandy, Mike. It's been a good year for the "flag" and for your great flower work.

Using the right hand protection for the application can also protect food products from contamination and the spread of foodborne pathogens.
